Review : The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Its really hard to describe how you feel about a book that you love so much without seeming like a total fan girl. That's how it is for me with this book. I'm gonna try my best to not sound like a babbling fool.

This book is the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I am so glad that I listened to my friend (the one who recommended Fallen as well). She knew what she was talking about. I read this book in two days. I would have finished it sooner but I was trying to make it last as long as I could. Everything about this book is amazing. The writing, the characters, the action scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat. Everything is incredible. Katniss is officially on my list of all-time favorite characters. She's brave, smart, and overall just bad ass!

Once again, The Hunger Games is incredible and absolutely amazing. It has set the standard for all other books I read. Its screwed me for life but I like it! If you haven't read it yet, then what are you waiting for?! Do it now!

  3. The Hunger Games turn me into a babbling fool, too...they're just that good! (OK, so I'm a babbling fool anyway. But the books are still amazing.)

Good review! Enjoy the rest of the series. :)

  4. It is one of the most memorable series I have ever read. But, Mockingjay did not hold up to the first two books for me. If you liked THG, try Neal Shusterman's Unwind. It was excellent!
